I recently blogged about the possibility of BBC 6 Music being closed. It seems today that our worst fears realised and the Director General of the BBC Mark Thompson today formally announced that the BBC intend to close 6 Music and the BBC Asian Network.
Not only is this an affront to music an culture, Phil Jupitus called this decision
“an act of cultural vandalism, it’s also an affront to the memory of John Peel and a slap in the face to thousands of licence-payers.”
