This morning the Council for the Misuse of Drugs was once again thrown into disarray when one of it’s members Dr Polly Taylor resigned. It appears that her resignation means that the Council cannot be properly consulted as required by the Misuse of Drugs Act; meaning that the banning of Mephedrone will seemingly have to be put off.
Effectively Dr Taylor resigned over the issue of how the government propose to treat their Scientific advisers. To simplify and distil the issues effectively what the government want the relationship to be about

I have been off work this week. Whilst off, horror of horrors, my Xbox has been broken. This has meant I have watched far more than my annual allowance of daytime TV.
As I almost invariably do, I have come to the conclusion that the thing I hate most on this earth is annoying TV adverts. And being pretty bored of sitting around doing nothing I thought I would blog about this. Now apologies to Charlie Brooker, as this is clearly a massive rip of of his “10 Biggest Cocks in

Well this weekend was a weekend of armchair sports viewing for me. And seeing as this is my blog I thought I would share my thoughts!
Pacquiao Versus Clottey
Last night Manny Pacquiao, who surely must now be rated as the Pound for Pound king, fought Joshua Clottey. Potentially something of a banana skin given the huge size differential between them. And whereas when Manny fought Hatton and Cotto he didn’t look that much smaller he really did against Clottey.
In fact is was guessed by those at ringside that Clottey weighed on

love the internet, and technology etc… I am a bona fida geek so all the web 2.0 stuff I lap up. And therefore I thought I would do a quick blog on some of the stuff I have enjoyed this week.
Twit Chat.
Earlier in the week I took part in a “twitchat” organised by The Howard League who campaign for penal reform. This twitchat is where they are conducted an interview with someone in real time on in twitter. Their campaign for “less crime, safer communities and fewer people in prison.

The truth is I have a really big problem with Homeopathy, and quackery and voo-doo mumbo jumbo in general. I would have inevitably blogged about this so I have decided to get it out of the way nice and early.
So homeopathy, people swear by it, it makes them feel better, even if it doesn’t work surely there is no harm in it? Well frankly yes, as this tragic story demonstrates.
Homeopathy doesn’t work. It is quackery of the highest order, just fleecing people out of their money for ineffective treatments (at

I was in Wimbledon tonight and thus was eating out.
After a wonder up and down “The Broadway” decided to have a pizza, and went to the newish, and reasonably priced, one called “Casa Nostra”. Had a nice pizza with Artichokes, Ham and Olives on.
Was good, service was good, I enjoyed myself (well as much as one can when eating out alone, tends to be a bit odd). So there was no question I would leave a tip.
But when the bill came they had included a column for “optional service charge”.

I recently blogged about the possibility of BBC 6 Music being closed. It seems today that our worst fears realised and the Director General of the BBC Mark Thompson today formally announced that the BBC intend to close 6 Music and the BBC Asian Network.
Not only is this an affront to music an culture, Phil Jupitus called this decision
“an act of cultural vandalism, it’s also an affront to the memory of John Peel and a slap in the face to thousands of licence-payers.”
An that certainly sums up my feeling on

Well to sort of test out my new blog I thought I ought to blog about something that really could not have appeared on my Union blog. So this will be my “What I did on my holidays” one….
So not a proper holiday, but as I has Friday off as annual leave I thought I would go to Bristol to stay with my brother. I had a few priorities, these centred around wanting to eat nice food, and bake a cake….. I know what a hellman I am eh?
So anyway first order
